VergeIO Strengthens Disaster Recovery and Performance with VergeOS 26.1

Faster Site Sync, Partial Snapshots, and 4x Storage Repair Performance Extend the Platform's Industry-Leading Data Protection

— VergeIO, creator of VergeOS, the industry's first private cloud operating system, today announced VergeOS 26.1, extending the platform's built-in data protection with granular disaster recovery controls, faster site-to-site replication, and significant storage performance gains. The release is available immediately to all VergeOS customers.

VergeOS is the only infrastructure platform that delivers data protection as an integrated service alongside virtualization, storage, and networking. VergeOS 26.1 builds on that foundation, giving IT teams more precise control over what gets replicated, how fast data syncs between sites, and how quickly the platform recovers from disk failures.

Faster Site Sync: Enhanced Business Continuity

Site-to-site replication now runs faster through improved replication performance and better bandwidth utilization. Organizations benefit from reduced recovery point objectives (RPOs), faster disaster recovery capabilities, and more efficient use of network resources between sites.

Partial Snapshots with Tag-Based Control

VergeOS 26.1 introduces partial snapshots, allowing administrators to define protection scope using tags to include or exclude specific VMs, tenants, and NAS services. With full site sync support, organizations can replicate only their critical workloads between sites, reducing bandwidth requirements and delivering cost-effective DR without the overhead of full-system replication.

N+2 Redundancy (RF3) for Maximum Data Availability

VergeOS already delivers strong data availability through RF2 redundancy combined with ioGuardian, meeting the needs of most enterprise environments by providing data availability across multiple drives and even in the face of node failures. For organizations that require the maximum data availability, VergeOS 26.1 introduces N+2 redundancy, equivalent to RF3 in traditional HCI terminology, implemented natively within the unified VergeOS architecture and extended by ioGuardian. N+2 can now be configured directly during installation, simplifying deployment for organizations with the most demanding uptime requirements.

4x Faster Storage Repair and System Performance Gains

Disk repair performance is improved by approximately 4x, reducing the time nodes spend in a degraded state after a drive failure. The release also delivers faster controller walk times after reboot, improved sync performance with cross-directory file threading, enhanced storage cache usage for database operations on controller nodes, and faster node start times through CPU type property caching.

"Data protection has always been a core pillar of VergeOS, not a bolt-on afterthought," said Greg Campbell, Chief Technology Officer at VergeIO. "With 26.1, we're giving IT teams finer-grained control over replication and snapshots while delivering a 4x improvement in disk repair performance. These are the capabilities that separate a true private cloud operating system from a hypervisor with add-ons."

The release also includes reliability improvements to OIDC and SSL certificate handling, multiple improvements to tenant and VM snapshot restores, streamlined drive replacement and scale-up from the node dashboard, reliable VLAN bond interface changes, and expanded audit logging for snapshot profiles and VLAN bond changes.
