Summary

Farmaplus needed a data center that could support its expansion across Argentina. The existing environment, built on a traditional hypervisor, limited scalability, efficiency and cost. Belite, working with Future Workers, proposed VergeOS. The integrated vSAN now runs Farmaplus’ most critical systems, including databases, and the deployment took two weeks from the arrival of the nodes. Belite reports substantial savings in licensing and hardware.

A well-designed platform that is easy to adopt and powerful in production.

01 · Introduction

A Critical Phase of Growth

Farmaplus faced a critical challenge: modernizing its technology infrastructure to support expansion across the country. Operations were becoming more demanding, and the data center ran on a traditional hypervisor. The company needed to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs and maintain business continuity.

That is when Belite, together with Future Workers, proposed VergeOS. Gerardo Tapia, CEO and Founder of Belite, explains how Belite supported Farmaplus through a modernization that optimized resources, reduced costs and kept operations running during a critical phase of growth.

02 · The Challenge

Scaling Without Disruption

“Farmaplus is currently in a phase of national expansion, which is why they began making strong investments in technology, both in hardware and software.”

Gerardo Tapia, CEO and Founder, Belite

Farmaplus was looking for a technology partner that could guide its investments and make the most of the tools it already had. The existing data center no longer met the needs of the business, and it created limits on scalability, efficiency and cost.

Farmaplus needed infrastructure that could keep pace with national expansion. The traditional hypervisor environment limited scalability, efficiency and cost.

Christian Juárez Matorras, IT Services Manager at Farmaplus, agreed with the initial assessment.

“We needed a robust, reliable platform with growth potential to meet the evolving needs of the business, one that could also fit the company’s budget.”

Christian Juárez Matorras, IT Services Manager, Farmaplus

For Tapia, Belite’s mission was clear from the start: “As a technology partner, our goal was to help them choose the right investments in order to make the most efficient use of the available technology.”

03 · The Solution

VergeOS and Its vSAN Advantage

Belite proposed an infrastructure based on VergeOS, a software-defined platform that radically simplifies data center management. One of the pillars of the design was the integrated VergeOS vSAN, which manages data efficiently and securely and suits the critical workloads Farmaplus runs.

“Verge is a truly comprehensive product, but without a doubt, the core of the solution is its vSAN: how it manages data efficiently and securely. This is crucial for Farmaplus, as the company’s most critical systems, including databases, run on the virtual platform.”

The technical benefits came with financial relief. According to Tapia, “Verge not only offers tremendous technical potential, but it also enabled them to achieve substantial savings in licensing and hardware.”

04 · First Impressions

From Skepticism to Confidence

Acceptance was not immediate. Tapia admits there were doubts: “There was some skepticism, you could say. We’re talking about a solution with a solid track record in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, but still quite new to the Latin American market.”

Inside Farmaplus, the attitude was more enthusiastic.

“We were very excited to innovate in this segment, to be part of the first experience in Argentina, and to contribute to the development of the solution.”

Christian Juárez Matorras, IT Services Manager, Farmaplus

To get past the initial barrier, Belite’s technical team worked closely with Farmaplus and showed in practice how the platform could meet the business’s challenges. “We worked hand in hand with our technical team to show the solution’s value and potential, and why it was a smart bet,” Tapia said.

05 · Implementation

Agile and Smooth

One of the standout aspects of the project was how simply and quickly the implementation went. A greenfield architecture on Dell R760 servers meant the migration was completed without complications.

“The process itself is extremely simple. As with any new implementation, some network requirements need to be met, but not much more. In the case of Farmaplus, the solution is set up on a Greenfield cluster based on Dell R760 servers, which really made the job much simpler.”

Gerardo Tapia, CEO and Founder, Belite

According to Juárez Matorras, the entire process took two weeks from the arrival of the node hardware. “So far, the experience has been very satisfying, along with the support from the FW (partner) team and the FP infrastructure team, as we’ve also been working on other projects and services,” he added.

The ease of deployment shortened implementation time and kept the operational impact of the project to a minimum.

06 · Next Steps

Stage 1 Complete, Disaster Recovery Next

Farmaplus has completed Stage 1 of its VergeOS deployment and is now evaluating the next phase: a disaster recovery site to strengthen resilience further.

“We are currently in the monitoring and control stage of some workloads. If everything goes well, we can consider the implementation closed and begin populating it.”

07 · Conclusion

A Technology That Simply Works

Belite sums up its experience deploying VergeOS for Farmaplus in one word: simplicity. In both deployment and migration, the platform showed that well-designed technology can be easy to adopt and extremely powerful.
